Although somewhat secluded in its sylvan setting, it stands proudly amidst its own parklands and gardens in the heart of the beautiful Derbyshire countryside Thornbridge Hall. The Hall is one of the least known of Derbyshires historic houses, although not one of the largest country houses of its period within the county. It has not been the ancestral seat of noble families. It has not been the home of any single family over a longer period of time. Yet its history is nevertheless interesting. None of the owners have been of natioal eminence and the building has not been the work of a famous architect.

Thornbridge Hall holds lasting affection in the hearts of many who,due to its demise as a family home and its (then) new look as a Teacher Training College can now look back with gratitude on the times they shared in this idyllic place.
