Thursday Ladies’ Circle

In 1973 a group of ladies started meeting together on the first and third Thursdays of the month and decided to call themselves the Young Wives. More than thirty years later the group continues to meet, with many of the original members still attending …….. but now with a new name.

A feature over the years has been that the group has tried to look out into the wider community, at home and abroad. At all our meetings we collect items for International Aid and this year have funded a Latrine for Life in Christian Aid’s Present Aid Scheme.

Thursday Ladies' Circle

Bill Walker returned in March to share with us more of the history of the parish and to hear from us the many reminiscences of parish life triggered by the photographs and other memorabilia that had been brought along. At our second meeting last month Barbara led us in a dash through the Bible. Unbelievably, in a little over an hour and a half we looked at every book, learned of their main themes and characters and even had time to compare the great variety of translations that appeared in the different versions of the Bible that members had brought.
We are grateful to Barbara for leading us so ably on our breakneck journey!

Programme for the coming weeks:

5th April Maundy Thursday service in Church.
19th April Easter party and Jacob's join supper.
3rd May Flowers for Spring : Marian and Elaine (meet in the back room of the Hall).

We meet in the Church Hall at 7.30 pm and welcome new members. Why not come along?
